How to connect the bulb to your smatphone

Step 1: Install the App

  • Download the "Smart Life" app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store
  • Open the app and create an account, or log in if you already have one

Step 2: Prepare the Bulb

  • Screw the bulb into a standard light socket (E27/E26/B22 base)
  • Turn on the power switch. The bulb should blink rapidly, indicating it's ready to pair
  • If the bulb doesn't blink, turn it off and on 3 times (on for 3 seconds, off for 3 seconds) to enter pairing mode

Step 3: Add the Bulb in the App

  • Enable Bluetooth on your smartphone.
  • In the Smart Life app, tap the "+" icon or "Add Device."
  • Select "Lighting" and then choose your bulb type
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete pairing
  • Stay within 10 feet (3 meters) of the bulb during setup

Step 4: Test the Connection

  • Once paired, try adjusting the brightness and color temperature in the app to confirm the connection works
  • Give your bulb a name (e.g., "Bedroom Lamp") for easy identification

Connection issues

Problem: The bulb won't appear in the app or won't pair.

Solutions:

  • Ensure the bulb is in pairing mode. The bulb should blink rapidly when ready to pair. If it's not blinking, turn the bulb off and on 3 times to enter pairing mode
  • Verify your phone's Bluetooth is enabled in settings
  • Move your phone within 10 feet (3 meters) of the bulb during setup
  • Check if the bulb is already paired to another device. If so, reset the bulb (see Reset Instructions below)
  • Confirm you've downloaded the correct app: Smart Life or Tuya Smart

Reset bulb for pairing / re-pairing

If your bulb isn't responding or you need to pair it with a different account, perform a factory reset:

Step 1: Reset the Bulb

  • With the bulb powered on, turn the light switch off and on rapidly 3 times
  • Each cycle should be: on for 3 seconds, off for 3 seconds
  • After the third cycle, the bulb will flash several times to confirm the reset is complete

Step 2: Re-Pair the Bulb

  • Once reset, the bulb will automatically enter pairing mode (blinking rapidly)
  • Open the Smart Life app and add the bulb as if setting it up for the first time (see "How to Connect the Bulb" above)

Note: A factory reset erases all settings, schedules, and group configurations for that bulb. You'll need to reconfigure everything after resetting.
